The Lohana Association of Dallas-Fort Worth (LADFW) is a vibrant, united, and growing community — created by the Lohanas, of the Lohanas, and for the Lohanas. Our mission is to bring families together, preserve our rich cultural heritage, and support one another through meaningful events, community service, and lasting connections.
Founded in 2022, LADFW is a registered non-profit organization committed to uniting and serving all Lohanas residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. We aim to promote and preserve our language, heritage, and values, while creating cultural awareness for future generations. Through a wide range of programs and events, we offer a platform for cultural expression, community involvement, and mutual support.
Throughout the year, LADFW organizes various activities including picnics, sporting events, festival celebrations, and social meetups to foster a strong sense of community. We also take pride in supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs by providing networking opportunities and promoting collaboration within and beyond the Lohana community.
As the North Texas region experiences rapid growth and welcomes a diverse influx of people from across the United States and around the world, LADFW is poised to expand significantly, continuing to serve as a cornerstone for cultural connection and community engagement.
The Lohana community is an ancient Indo-Aryan group with a proud lineage tracing back to the Kshatriya (warrior) class of India. According to historical sources and legend, Lohanas are descendants of the Suryavanshi dynasty, connected to King Raghu and Lord Ram of the epic Ramayana. The name “Lohana” is believed to be derived from Lohargadh, an ancient city in the Punjab region, symbolizing strength and resilience.
Historically, Lohanas were known for their valor and leadership, often serving as rulers and protectors in the northwest regions of the Indian subcontinent. They formed the first line of defense against invasions by Persians, Macedonians, Huns, and other forces. Over time, they migrated from areas such as Afghanistan and Punjab to Sindh, and eventually settled in Gujarat, Kutch, and Saurashtra in western India.
As political and social dynamics evolved, the community transitioned from its warrior origins to become highly successful traders and entrepreneurs, particularly in Gujarat. Despite these transformations, Lohanas have preserved their cultural identity, traditions, and values.
Today, the Lohana community is spread across India and the global diaspora, continuing to make significant contributions to business, culture, and society — while honoring its distinguished history and heritage. Unity, philanthropy, and progress remain at the heart of the Lohana spirit.
Lohanas went for name, not for money
Worked in front for fame, and did not fail.
